Summer Reading For 6th, 7th and 8th Grade

Don't Experience Summer Slide!
Posted on 06/19/2017
Summer Reading Summer is a time to recharge after a long and rigorous school year, spend time with family and friends, and enjoy the beautiful sunshine.

It is also a time when reading can be pushed aside for other activities, causing students to lose some of the ground they gained in their reading abilities throughout the previous school year.

To help avoid this “summer slide” phenomenon, we would like to encourage you to promote reading as a recreational summer activity with your child.

Sixth Grade
Sixth grade students should read at least one novel over the summer. The Language Arts Team has compiled a 6th Grade Suggested Reading List.

Seventh Grade
Seventh grade students should read at least two novels this summer. The Language Arts Team has compiled a 7th Grade Suggested Reading List.

Eighth Grade
Eighth grade students are expected to read and annotate the short story "And Summer is Gone" and read at least two of the Road Trip books. View the 8th Grade Reading List
