Eighth-grade students attended a Physics Day at Six Flags Great America on April 27, then applied what they learned in physics class.
At the park, students had the opportunity to experience kinetic and potential energy while riding many different rollercoasters.
The students took their “funderstanding” back into the classroom to engineer and design roller coasters using foam piping, marbles and tape.
The goal is to create a coaster that has a funnel, loop and helix. In addition, they must create the fastest thrill-seeking coaster name, theme and color.
